Toughened Safety Glass

Toughened Safety Glass is a manufactured by placing glass panels in a toughening furnace. The glass is heated to extremely high temperatures and then rapidly cooled. Toughened glass is up to five times stronger than standard annealed glass.

On impact toughened glass breaks into small blunt edged fragments therefore reducing the risk of injury. Toughened Glass must be used in certain critical locations as outlined in Australian Standards AS1288.

These applications include the following:

• Doors and sidelights
• Balustrades, stairwell and pool fences
• Shower and bath screens and enclosures
• Shop fronts and partitions
• Splash backs
